PhysioGym – Exercise Tips from Colm
Colm graduated from DCU in 2007 with a BSc. Sport Science and Health and continued onto Bangor University in Wales where he gained his MSc. Exercise Rehabilitation. He has since qualified in Functional Movement Screening (FMS) and as a Biomechanics Method Corrective Exercise Specialist.
Colm’s career to date has involved one-on-one training and group exercise instruction in facilities in Bray, Swords and Ranelagh. He has also coached underage teams in both GAA and soccer in the Dublin 15 area, in Maynooth and also in Wales and the USA. In 2014 Colm moved to Eastern India for five months to work with the Pro Sport Development group where he was charged with the prehabilitation and rehabilitation of eight elite junior weightlifters as well as countless youth weightlifters, volleyball players, badminton players and track and field athletes. He also helped to coach each of these.
Colm specialises in the rehabilitation and prevention of injury as well as sustainable weight loss and sport specific training. He is a big believer in the social and psychological benefits of exercise and as such his sessions are designed to be both challenging and fun. He believes that no two sessions should ever be identical so you never know what to expect.
Away from Physiocare, Colm teaches Biomechanics and Kinesiology in a pre-university Physiotherapy course in Colaiste Ide in Finglas. He also teaches P.E. in John Scottus Junior School in Ballsbridge where he is usually found joining in games with the children. He is also a huge GAA fan and plays for the St. Peregrines club in Dublin 15.
