What is a Foot Scan and Orthotic Assessment?

This is a thirty minute appointment with a Chartered Physiotherapist where they will take a 3-D scan of your feet (and computer analysis) and also conduct a leg and lower limb examination. This will uncover if you can benefit from devices known as orthotics – these are customised insoles worn discreetly in shoes to help your injury/condition to get and feel better. We sell these in our clinics starting from €35. Our foot scan technology is available in our Butterfield, Blanchardstown, Carrickmines and Castleknock clinics.

How can this help me?

If you are experiencing foot pain (such as ankle pain, bunions, collapsed arches, flat feet, heel pain etc.), this appointment will see a Chartered Physiotherapist examine your feet and provide treatment on them (which may include the prescription of orthotics as mentioned above). Did you know that pain in your knees or even back (and lower back) may be caused by your feet? Foot issues can result in what is known as a biomechanical assessment and misalignment which can affect your stride and posture. This has a knock-on effect that can be felt in other areas of your body such as your knees and back. For example if your right leg is even slightly longer than your left, your body is misaligned as has to contort and adapt in ways that can result in the feelings of pain and discomfort over time.
